Jimena Agra is a Spanish-born oil painter based in Los Angeles, California, where she has lived and worked since 2017.
Artist Statement
I like to think that my work often begins with memory: fragments of childhood, folklore, and mythology, all existing somewhere between the present and recollection. I try to use color and light as another present element, just like any figure or landscape, bringing everything together. The figures I paint are usually indirect or anonymous. They are not meant to describe specific people, but more to suggest inner states or moments of transformation.
